Texas talent

They argued that?? Really? I love Durant -- I think he'll be great --
but it's an absolute no-brainer. Do you want a guy who will put up stats
earlier or a guy who will help you win earlier?

I've gotta agree with Mark and Gene on this one.
Durant and Oden are both very special players, can't
miss prospects, but only one of them will make his
team an instant contender. And that's Oden. But it's
not like we're getting the #1 pick....
If anybody saw the three man weave on the C's pregame
last night, they saw both Holley and Marshall argue
that Durant would be a better pick for the C's. They
argued that he's further along than Oden at this stage
of their respective development and, curiously, that
Durant would help the C's faster and that Paul Pierce
wouldn't want to wait around for Oden to develop. I
like both Holley and Marshall, but they were way off.
Oden helps this team quicker, plays a position more
important to creating a contender, and, as Mark
pointed out, plays incredible defense right now as an
18 year old kid (actually, he's very much a man--an
absolute beast for only being 18 years old). This is
exactly what we need (and health). Replace Kandi with
Oden, and don't change one other player from our
current team, and we're looking at a top 4 team in the
East for sure. Oden is that good.
