And the hits just keep on coming

In a perverse way, this is the best possible thing that Doc, Ainge and management could have happen.

They now officially have an excuse for this mess, a legit chance at getting a guy like Joachim Noah ( you read that right -- what I've seen of Oden spells o-v-e-r-h-y-p-e-d), and more reason to move a player like Wally at the deadline.

Our projected starters against the Raptors on Friday night:

Telfair, Ray, Green, Jefferson, and Perkins

On the bench: Rondo, Powe, and Gomes.

On the IR list: Ratliff, Pierce, Sczerb, Scal, Allen, Olowakandi (maybe),
West (maybe).

So, anyone still think we can win the Atlantic? Anyone think we'll actually
sign a ten-day contract or two with our penny pinching owners (OH MY GOD!
THAT'S CHRIS WEBBER'S MUSIC!!!!!! I could just see them doing that too -
signing another corpse to go along with our collection)?

This season, whether we like it or not, is D-O-N-E. Allen's injury
circumstance just sums up the Celtics luck over the past decade or two now.
Guys go up for after whistle dunks every single game - but I've NEVER heard
of one ending a player's season (and possibly career) before.

The saddest part is that there are (were) more and more flashes each game
that invoked thoughts that just maybe the corner was about to be turned.
Give and gos/pick and rolls on a regular basis. Some extra passes for layups
(instead of for 3 point shots). Getting to the hole seemed to be the focus
instead of jump shots. They were just that, flashes, but they were there
almost every night for maybe a half a quarter or so teasing us with hope
that once again seems to merely have been a deep breath before the hearty
guffaw right in our face.

This isn't saying Tony Allen isn't replaceable, but it is saying that he was
the biggest source of hope that once some bodies returned healthy that we
could in fact make that nice post All-Star break run and sneak into the
playoffs. And Jefferson is still fragile too - when was the last time he
made it through forty straight games without injury?

As Earl Hickey says: 'karma'. We had it so good, for so long - we're now
just paying the bill.
