uneasy about warming to Scal

I heard the game where Marshall did the color role and I agree that he's going to be pretty good. Cousy is a good person to have on because, as you say, there's no BS. He is not, however, a good TV announcer. There's an art, a feel, to the color guy's role that Cooz doesn't have. You have to be able to play with and off your broadcast partner. I remember Russell doing occasional TV work, and when he had something to say, he said it, and would finish his thought, even if something big was going on in the game. His opinions and insights were terrific, but his comments interrupted the verbal flow of the game. Tommy and Mike, I think, work very well together in that sense.
Tommy is frustrating in that he has a lot of excellent basketball thoughts and insight, but half the time is lost in rampant homerism and ref-baiting, which wear on me after a while.
As I watch on League Pass, it is interesting to hear other announcers, even though Tommy and Mike seem to have half the games. Some of them actually talk coherently and insightfully about the other team and its players! Our guys rarely do that other than an occasional "He's a good player" etc.

Sure, he's helping in various ways, but Cousy was fundamentally right when he
said "I wish he had more talent."

He may not know the players' names, but there's no BS with Cooz. He could never
be a politician.
In general, I've been enjoying the Tommy-less era immensely. (Funny how he
sounds angry even on the phone from home. He should be on local AM talk radio -
that's his natural habitat, given his anger, bias, and accent. He could host a
call-in show, where the few remaining Johnny Most fans can call in and complain
about how the refs, the league, and basically everybody else with the notable
exception of the Celtics ownership and management are screwing the Celtics).
Anyway, happier days are on the horizon, as it appears that FSNE are already
grooming a far better successor in Donny Marshall.
