uneasy about warming to Scal

There's something uncomfortable about the warming trend toward Scalabrini. Sure, he's helping in various ways, but Cousy was fundamentally right when he said "I wish he had more talent." A mediocre team rises, I think, when it learns to distinguish between the good and the better. For me, we're better without a good player like Walker, for instance. That was always my argument for trading him. We would also be better by giving Powe more minutes and Scal less. The argument for Scal is his defense vs. bigs, his ability to integrate into the offensive flow, yada, yada. But he comes up short too often because of his physical limitations. Give him a good shooting night and he begins to think he's a shooter. Soon, he begins to drive only to find out that it takes talent to finish. I don't like it when we have Powe in reserve. I can't guarantee that Powe is that "better" player, but he sure looks like it on the floor. Plus, he plays inside. We have enough wing
 functionaries already.

I know there are only 240 minutes per game, but Powe and Rondo need some regular time. To me, they both have Gomes-like potential and shouldn't watch their rookie season go by.

  Cheers, Gene
