< Does is seem far fetched that the deterioration might have
anything to do with the Doc's mixed messages? ("I value D and
unselfish ball - but I'll sub you out if you're not scoring enough!") >

I don't recall Doc ever thinking or stating that he was demoting
Telfair due to his poor shooting. I think Doc gave him a fair shot
and Telfair blew it on several levels just as he had done in Portland.
By all accounts our coaches been working and working with
Telfair (and others) on defense, but have realized few results.
These same young players have also shown little progress
in playing within our offense. But while it's one thing to have
young athletic wings such as Allen and Green continue to perform
as highlight film "free spirits," it's another matter entirely
to have your quarterback (PG) free lance in the same way.
<he is still the coach and it is his job to reach these players and
motivate them. > - Tom M.
That's the weird thing, Tom. Doc does motivate them. They all
seem to give him 100%. It's just that most of them neither
seem to comprehend X's and O's nor readily take to the structure
of offensive or defensive schemes. Will they ever, who knows?
Having four recent hotshot HS-to-NBA players on our roster
along with six other "youngs" has planted an albatross around
Doc's neck. Other more egotistical, less patient and accommodating
head coaches likely would have resigned from this Wyc/Ainge
created mess long ago.
