2007 draft compare to 84 draft?

First off, good win against knicks.

Would like to think that Green can turn a corner and string some solid performances off the bench and gain confidence (I also realize the game before he sucked). In fact I would love to see that happen more than finishing out this season and praying for bingo on lottery day. If the rest of the way Green begins to scratch the surface of his potential and develops confidence going into the summer and into the next season but as a result losing out on the first two picks while getting a 3-5 pick would be preferable.

My reasoning is if the light bulb comes on and Green realizes he close to being a impact starter, then he can focus and work hard on achievable set goals over the summer and camp rather than on everything while pondering if he belongs; if so he has a chance to blossom as much as Al did this year. How great would it be if Green plays as well as he did tonite and on a consistent basis? Could Doc screw that up? never mind.

My second thought is I know many would feel that not getting either the first two picks in this years draft akin to not having a parachute open on a skydive but I don't see it that way. Most writers about this years draft say that it is a good one providing that all the suspected players come out. If so there should be some blue chippers at the 3-5 positions also. I remember the famed 84 draft where the consensus top picks were also big men (Olajuwon and Sam Bowie) and both were worthy of the projections though Bowie never was able have a career because of injuries; but there was also a guy named MJ to go along with blue chip talents as Perkins (Sam), Barkley, Stockton, Otis Thorpe, Alvin Robertson and Kevin Willis. I am not saying that there may be 3 HOFs and a hand-full of near all-stars beyond the top two picks but picking at the 3-5 position in a good draft is a very good thing, certainly not worthy of jumping off a bridge. Especially if Green turns a corner and our
injured starters (Wally, Allen, Perks) come back healthy also. I say keep the pick and pick the BPA; only trade it if it nets a near all-star because that is what we can expect picking at the 3-5 position.

Go C's lets make it 3 in a row.
