Bullish on the Celts

I have been lurking of late.

I have noticed as this team has endured a thudding drop to the bottom that people are understandably cranky, caught in no mans land as to what to hope for in this version of our C's. To you I say Keep Hope Alive! I see light at the end of this tunnel. People are mad at Ainge, I guess for the mess that this season has become, but can he be blamed for all the injuries to what amounts to the whole starting lineup excluding the PG position? How does Doc get blamed for all this? I think there a better coaches but they are all employed unless you want Brown? who could have done better this year with the following injuries and replacement choices? Lets see:

Pierce SG/SF (All-Star) replaced by Green/West/Ray - I like West but he is not close or capable of replacing what our captain Pierce brings, plus has been nicked up himself; Green is not ready for prime time yet (next year hopefully) and needs a Pierce on the floor to be effective at this stage, maybe the 2nd half of the season he emerges as did Allen and Jefferson. Ray??

Wally SF replaced by Gomes/Scals/Green/Powe - I know people are down on Wally but he is our 2nd most consistent scorer and player when healthy. Gomes has improved his range but is not a true SF and if Perk was healthy would have lost his starting PF position replaced by Jefferson. He will be a valuable rotation 6th or 7th man off the bench as Jefferson has emerged as our true PF. Scals is needed now because of the injuries and at least knows how to cover quicker big men. Green see above.

T Allen SG/SF replaced by Green/West/Gomes/Scals - Our most versital wing player that was just emerging, if anyone was going to supplant a (healthy) Wally to the 6th man role it would be Allen especially in the 4th qtr. Arguably our second best player on the team.

Perkins C replaced by Jefferson/Scal/Kandi and himself. Jefferson has emerged but really needs a healthy true center that is Perks to do the dirty work so he can have the freedom to cause havoc as a PF.

The only starting position that has not been affected by injuries is the PG position as West and Rondo have been doing a fairly decent job with Rondo getting quality time and is earning Doc's trust, a hard thing to do as a young PG, ask Telfair.

I am bullish in this team because if it is able to return with a healthy Pierce, Wally, Allen, Perks plus a 1-7 draft pick to go along with West, Jefferson, and more experienced Green and Rondo and even Telfair also Scals. To me this team going into next season will become a very good experienced young playoff bound team in the making.

Question to list who are the best players out there regardless of position and country that will be avail to the C's if we dont get the top two players in this draft that we may get excited about and that are ready for primetime. I know all eyes are on Durrant and Oden but I am sure there are some foreign players and non-big or second tier big players that may solidify this team going forward.

  Go C's
