That SI article did make one valid point. I was
thinking the other day that if Rondo could do whatever
Bruce Bowen did (like shoot 1,000 treys a day in the
offseason) to make himself a perimeter threat, he
could really go a long way toward becoming a fixture.
He doesn't need to be a big scorer; he just needs to
have ONE reliable offensive weapon so that when teams
cheat off him after he dishes, he can make them pay
often enough that they can't afford to leave him wide
open.
>>Rajon Rondo: Boston native Dana Barros made 1,090
three-pointers in his career; Rondo has made four in
his rookie season. Barros should take Rondo down to
his sports complex in Mansfield and show him how he
did it. Rondo is already the best playmaker on the
roster, a solid backup with the potential to be a
full-time starter for the next decade. But his suspect
perimeter game allows defenses to cheat off him. The
next two to three years will go a long way to
determining Rondo's NBA future.
