Mark, you seem to contradict your self. You say it takes a transcendant player, is Lebron James not that? Coud Kevin Durant be the next Lebron type athlete? Bird and Jordan also had a surrounding cast that stepped up in key games. that will be Cleveland's challange
   
  The Pistons recently won without a domiant big man. Shaq didn't do much last year for Miami. I think Phoenix or Dallas will win without a true big man. Basketball is a team sport, Lebron or Kobe can only do so much. You have to go 7-9 deep with a few key clutch guys

If the argument is you can win without a great big man because Bird and
Jordan did it, then I think you're making my argument for me. It takes a
transcendent player to do it at a position other than center (especially
non-PGs). I don't see Bird walking through that door.
