I'm no expert, but Ewing was actually the anomaly for "Franchise Centers" as
he didn't win a title. 

 

Olajuwon, Robinson, Shaq, Duncan (was he considered a center coming out THEN
changed to PF?) all the "can't miss" franchise centers going into those
drafts - the majority seem to pull off at least one title win (Yes, we have
Mr Olowakandi - no, he doesn't count).  Jury is still out on Yao Ming. 

 

Of the other position "can't miss" talents - are there any that have that
same track record? It's not a guarantee, but it's awfully darn close. I'm
searching for consensus #1 draft pick players at other positions that have
won titles, but none are leaping to mind. Anyone care to forward some for
consideration?
