He got defensive and said no one saw the play before where TA had the stop, did they? did they? Then he went on to say that the plan they talked about gameday morning was that TA is better matchup on Billups and he would be guarding him....then he goes on to say Tony was cold because he hadn't played in the second half....hmmm....best matchup or bench...Chauncy takes over the game and he doesn't switch until the final minute of the game...And the plan was for that to be the matchup? ....Doc does seem to be a decent person and humble,etc.,etc. BUT...we have arguably one of the best teams ever assembled.Personality aside, Its like letting Lindsay Lohan drive your brand new Rolls Royce on the Autobahn....
I just don't see that. Doc has some weaknesses, and I've griped about them in the past. But coaching a team is not just about substitutions. This team, for example, needs to balance (at least) three strong egos of guys who have spent their whole careers being The Man. The team also needs all three to play tough defense, something two of them weren't known for before.
There were many questions about this team over the summer, and *no one* predicted they'd have anything like the record they do. If you're going to hang the three losses on Doc's play-calling and substitutions, then you've got to give him credit for keeping a just-put-together team happy and focused for 23 wins.
And, hey, I'm one of the biggest Big Baby fans, but we did win the game by twenty points.
