At 18-2, the naysayers need new reasons to dismiss the C's

I've been hearing this since last Summer, and I'm tired of it. Ever
since the first glimmer of a better season dawned with the
acquisition of Ray Allen, the naysayers have been coming up with ever
more desperate excuses why the Celtics are "Not A Good Team".

First, they said, we needed a more veteran presence beside Pierce and Allen.
Hellooooo, Kevin.

Then it was "they'll need lots of time to make team chemistry and
there isn't enough basketball to go around".
Welcome to preseason, where the main problem the C's had was being
TOO generous with the passing at times.

Then, Boston (literally) started the regular season with a
roar. Then the excuses came out of the woodwork. "It's too early,
other teams are still getting in regular season shape, they haven't
been on a WC road trip."

Blah, blah.....BLEAH!

It's 20 games in now. One quarter of the entire season. Boston is
18-2. They won their latest game starting rookie Glen Davis at
Forward when both their experienced Big Men went down with
injuries. They've won close games and blowouts. They've been way
ahead and come from behind.

And frankly, I don't really CARE what people say about the likes of
San Antonio or the rest of the "Pestern" Conference. The Boston
Celtics have the best overall record in the entire NBA, and 2 of the
4 losses of the Spurs were against teams the Celtics beat. Boston is
undefeated at home in it's first 11 games of the season. Only the
Spurs can make a similar claim. The C's are almost routinely
pulverizing the opposition to such an extent that people are actually
disappointed if a Celtics victory isn't in double digits.

I know the C's aren't perfect. The ball movement needs to improve
and that stranglehold defense would be even more impressive if they
played it for 4 quarters instead of 2. Rondo has improved
dramatically, though I still think a veteran PG would be a huge
help. Sometimes they stand around on offense too much, and try too
many funky passes.

But they're winning, decisively, and consistently. It's time people
stopped looking for ways to excuse the high quality team the Celtics
have, and started realizing they're the favorite to win the
Championship this year, the Hell with the Spurs, LeBron or whatever else.

Now, just sit back and enjoy the ride!!!!!
