Wednesday will be game twenty, so here is my brief review of the first quarter season.

Coach has done a good job; indeed, the troika we know of Doc, the defense guy and the big man guy have been outstanding. If good students make good teachers, then good players are making good coaches. Particularly nice to see: Doc not jerking Rondo around or even Davis; instead he's counseling and encouraging. There's also progress on the end-of-quarter plays; at least, the isolation has led to passes and open jumpers. That Doc has moved so quickly to utilize Davis is also impressive to me.

The Three: B+ grade. Garnett gets the A, while Pierce and Allen get a B.

The Two: Perk and Rondo each get a B+. Both have fit in well and shown improvement. Rondo may even deserve an A, since his shooting has matured so quickly.

The Vet Bench: B+. Posey and Dr. House are A students; couldn't ask any more of them. Tony Allen is an Incomplete again; wow, he's got talent, but we wait again. Pollard had some good games but is hurt now? Anyway, he easily gets a B.

The Rook: B+. Davis is really impressive and did well in escaping the blocks by Big Ben. He has pushed around some big and tall men while rebounding well, setting monster picks and showing good help defense. He might even get mention for the All-Rookie team if he continues to get minutes.

That's enough. Others are better at in-depth player evaluation. At 17-2, everyone passes. Cheers, Gene
