The good Major was discussing listers who have a laizes faire attitude not players. I am sure he would be happy to discuss players but not listers!

1. The counterpoint was made to illustrate an extreme; the
demonizing of
being a "Marine" or the personality traits thereof (I think
the word is
stereotyping) can just as easily be done to the other end of the
spectrum.

An extreme that doesn't exist, except in your imagination.
No one has said that it would be great if KG (and everyone
else on the team) had a Joe Johnson/Kedrick Brown/Jerome
Moiso-type personality.
As for my "'demonizing' being a Marine" (oh no, I'm being
accused of being the lowliest of the lowliest - being
"against the troops"!!), you're missing my point here, which
wasn't all that subtle to begin with. Namely, a
Marine-drill-sergeant-type of communication style may be
exactly right for the Marines, but will not work if applied
chronically to multimillionaire NBA stars.

2. No, it wouldn't serve any purpose. That would be me doing
the same
thing that others are doing classifying Garnett's character
- it's not
my place.

Really? Talking about a player's personality - one of the
most important variables in building a team - is NOT OK on
a list whose purpose is discuss the team for which the said
player is playing? Then what is suitable to discuss? Set
some parameters here so that we studiously avoid
inappropriate classification in the future.
