Y'know, we're lucky to have her here.

Some boards are full of nothing but "How Great We Art", or "Woe is
Us, We Suck".

Here, we get a varied batch of viewpoints. Yes, Eggy can be
critical, and somewhat unrelenting, but in my case at least, she
makes me look at both the positive and negative sides of the
Celtics. Sort of like having Bob Cousy on the list, but without the
fancy dribble. :)

I don't always agree with her, in that I think Danny Ainge is more
mistaken than malicious, and that Doc Rivers has a few more good
points than she sees (though I DID imagine her wailing when he was
named Coach of the Month, "Stop vindicating him ,for God's sake! He
can't coach defense!").

She has, despite some caustic witticisms (well, half of them, anyway)
from a select few, posted positive things about the team. But, (at
the risk of putting words in her mouth) I believe she wants the team
to flourish long term, not burn bright for a season and fizzle to
irrelevance. In fairness, both Heinsohn and Cousy ALSO prefer the
long term approach. Ainge is betting the franchise that the
Magnificent Three (plus whomever he gets by the trading deadline, and
you KNOW it will happen) can come into town and come away with at
least one Championship.

There is, surprisingly, a good reason to go this route. In 3-4
years, Oden and Durant (barring injuries) will be WC juggernauts, in
an already powerful conference. If, by that time, the C's have
snagged at least one championship, maybe two, Boston can entice those
two--who, I think will be near the end of their rookie contracts--to
come to Boston. And if not them, other talented players in the
interim WILL be available. Who knows, by then, Kevin McHale might
give Al Jefferson back. :)

It's a heck of a rick, Danny betting that success will have good
players beating a path to Boston. By far the more reliable route is
the long term approach, but Boston has been spectacularly
unsuccessful in that mode.

That doesn't make it a bad idea, and Egg knows this. She has a valid
opinion, and expresses herself clearly, if forcefully (as if there's
anyone here who isn't at times EQUALLY forceful). She also has a
keen wit and weird sense of humor. So let's all ease down a bit.

However it happened, the Celtics ARE winning. I think we can all
agree that this is GOOD!

I'm going to go eat some chocolate chip cookies now.
