Dulling our point

My threshold for backup point guard is very low. I think it's ridiculous how many people feel that we're doomed without the elusive "pure" point guard who can't hit a jump shot but can dribble four basketballs with his eyes closed. Rondo is going to be great as the starter, and for the remaining minutes, Ray Allen, Eddie House and/or Gabe Pruitt can certainly bring the ball upcourt and start the offense -- even if they might not be able to drive at will to the basket and make no-look alley-oop feeds. Completely overblown. People are looking for problems where there aren't any.
That said, Tony Allen is a disaster at the point. He is NOT capable of bringing the ball upcourt and starting the offense. His dribbling skills are that poor. As Tommy Heinsohn would say, two dribbles and a shot and he's fine; more than that and it's trouble. Tony Allen at the point makes me long for Antoine Walker at the point.

Asccroding to the season splits at basketball-reference.com his assist to turnover ratio was a flat 1:1 in the second half. But if you look at the last three months of the season, you see a definite month to month improvement in all statistical categories, and he had his career highs in assists in that period.
