don't know if anyone heard Marc Spears on Celticsstuff live but I'm pretty
excited to have him writing about the C's. I've read some of his stuff on
ESPN.com and he seems like a BBall junkie -- rather than a "Basketball
mind".
also i'll miss Gomes/West/Jeffreson --- maybe they should be forever known
as the "Little 3". or the "missed 3", or the "Walker" (in honor of
Antoine's proclivity for the Missed 3) :)

Acknowledging that Ainge and Ownership had a plan all along and carried it
out successfully, after the "really smart basketball (in their own) minds"
have stood on the sidelines snickering like pimply adolescents laughing at
the guys going home with the hot women.
That they spent their time writing article-after-article on what a train
wreck the Celtics management is and how they don't have a clue ... would
expose the "writers" as the ones that haven't had a clue all along. Their
inflated ego's just won't handle it. The negative stories were agenda, not
sports, driven IMO.
The NYT/Globe and Herald should just clean sweep the lot of them and start
over. Perhaps they will then gain vs. lose readership again though I doubt
it.

I'm with you, Steve. I realize that the "new" Celtics haven't played a game
yet, but I am still a bit surprised at the less than enthusiastic response
from the listers (and from Bob Ryan, Shaughnessy, et. al.) that used to
bemoan the youthfulness of the "old" Celtics. At first, we heard a few
positive words when Ray Allen and KG came aboard. These words were quickly
followed with comments to the effect that, while we have three very good
players, they are old and have no bench support. The Celtics have now added
Eddie House, Scott Pollard, and Posey to the bench. What more could one ask
for? Ok, a true veteran point guard. Short of going way into luxury tax
territory, however, I think Danny and Co. have done a great job of making
over the team. This despite the fact that I'm really going to miss Big Al,
Delonte, and Ryan Gomes. I just wish we could get a little more
acknowledgement from the glass half empty crowd that the new Celtics are a
big improvement over the old Celtics.
