So hot, they're printed on asbestos

Can't help myself from commenting on Ray's rumors:
1) I like Adonal Foyle a whole lot. He's smart, he's a
great locker-room guy and he works hard. He should
never have been a starter or been given starter's
dollars, but he could be one of the better backup
centers in the league. That said, I'm not sure he's
the guy the Celtics need for their final roster slot.
As I posted earlier, I suspect they can manage the
pivot well enough with Perkins, Pollard and a rotating
cast of Garnett, Scalabrine and Davis. Since Ainge
already has us loaded with one-dimensional role
players like Powe, Manuel and Wallace, I'm just not
sure Adonal's shot-blocking is enough of a necessary
addition to the team.
I'm glad to hear they're chasing PJ Brown, but I don't
expect him to come here.
2) Put me down as intrigued about the KVH possibility
if Reggie Miller doesn't come. Both of these guys may
be shadows of their former selves, but it would be
nice to have a reliable bench scorer/shooter who isn't
6'1. Like somebody else noted, if I had my druthers
I'd probably lean toward Reggie, despite his age,
because of his competitive fire and the respect he'd
command from refs and teammates. But Van Horn would be
an acceptable substitute. Allan Houston would be OK
too, but I think other teams may bid up his asking
price, like with PJ.
3) I have to say I'm lukewarm about Jaskevicius. If
you can't play well for Larry Bird and Don Nelson, I'm
not sure you can play well in the NBA. I've seen
nothing to justify the hype. And he's 31 years old. On
the other hand, he'd bring decent size to the PG spot,
could play SG as well, has a decent assist-to-
turnover ratio and (at least in Indiana) shot well
from three. I'd feel more comfortable about Eddie
House if we had a guy like Saras at the point; to my
mind, getting a real backup PG is a bigger priority
than another big man.
Back again on the other hand, though, he'd be a
defensive liability, like House.
I keep coming back to Ray's idea about Ruben
Patterson. Character, shmaracter, I'd sign Charles
Manson if I thought he'd help the Celtics win a ring.
Talent-wise, Patterson's gotta be the best FA still
out there - and unlike your Jackie Manuels and Brandon
Wallaces, he's a lockdown defender who can also score.
I'd sleep like a baby if we had this guy on the roster.
