Uh... I'm gonna disagree on all counts.

Foyle produces only in contract years? you must be thinking of
someone else Kim:

Probably Foyle's best statistical year was 2000-01, the year AFTER
being awarded his first non-rookie contract. He only played 44 games
and posted career lows the season (03-04) IMMEDIATELY PRECEEDING
getting a 6 yr/$51 M contract.... why Golden St. gave him that was
and still is a mystery. The panicked --- it was like us resigning
Blount, but on steroids.

And I didn't say he was a "gotta have" but I do think he'd be a nice
fit -- as what he is and would be: a cheap backup Center. He's a
good defender and I think we still need another big man defender,
lest we see KG guarding Shaq, Dwight Howard, Yao, etc. I'm curious
if you are satisfied with our big man rotation of Perkins & Pollard.
The thought of KG playing center makes me nauesous.

People in CLE were probably dying laughing when DAL signed Desagana
Diop --- but in a new situation with diff. teamates he's become a
very good backup/scratch starter Center. It's part of why i'm
expecting much more from Scal this season --- he fits with THIS
edition of the team much better than in years past. For most of
Foyle's tenure in GS that team was horrible.

Olowokandi ahs never been a good defender and Scal is not one either.
I've always thought SA, and DET have a good model where they
stockpile capable if unspectacular big men --- you never know when
you're going to need 18 fouls. If a swing man goes down they're a
dime-a-dozen in the NBDL to replace for injury.... but big men who
block 2 shots a game, are good locker room guys and don't turn the
ball over are valuable to have.

I've never seen what the big deal was with Scal and his contract (or
Olowokandi for that matter) -- i'm pretty sure we've disagreed on
that over the years. They're end of the bench guys. I would have
rather gone after guys who fit this team better or filled needs
(Mikki Moore when he left SEA or Darrick Martin when he signed with
TOR) and that's what I see Foyle as.
