Why Did The Celtics Wait On Free Agency?

They didn't know what the team was going to be. The needs before the KG
trade and the needs now are very different.
They'll feel their way through this season and go for it next season.
The danger to this, of course, is the fact that they have, at most, a
three-year window to win with this group. And they're basically punting
this season because they don't have time/assets to fill out the roster
to championship-level.
If they get it done next year or the year after, it's all worth it. If
they don't, we're going to wake up with a terrible hangover.

Subject: Why Did The Celtics Wait On Free Agency?
One question to ponder, is why Celtics management
didn't sign a quality free agent, when they were
available, rather than waiting until the end of the
process, when practically everyone of quality is gone?
Luxury Tax worries?
Devoting themselves to the KG trade talks?
Not an attractive location for free agents sans
KG addition?
Whatever the reason, the Celtics badly need someone
in reserve whose talent level lies between the two
Allens.
