>>We've got 2 of the best guys in the NBA in KG and
Allen... why bring in fools like Patterson and Posey.

Um, because your bench consists of Eddie House, Brian
Scalabrine, Scot Pollard, Leon Powe, Jackie Manuel and
three kids who have never played a minute of NBA ball?
Or because the only guy on that list who was drafted
in the first round was Pollard? (Who, by the way,
averaged all of one point and one rebound last year.)

Look again at that list, folks: at least until (or
unless) Tony Allen can come back healthy, our SIXTH
MAN is Eddie House. Scot Pollard, whom I've always
liked but who is, let's face it, a 10th or 12th man on
a decent team at this stage, is likely going to be a
key member of our rotation. And if he's not, it's only
going to be because Brian Scalabrine is beating him
out for minutes.

Even giving Pollard the benefit of the doubt that last
season was a fluke, if you compare his 05-06 numbers
to what Mutombo did last season, Big Dik tallied more
rebounds and blocks than Pollard in nearly identical
minutes. I never thought I'd be pining for the Celtics
to sign a 41-year-old, but he'd be a significant
upgrade at this point.

The chief criteria I can discern in Ainge's three
recent signings seems to be that they would each
accept one-year deals. I wonder if Danny sees the
reason for that: that nobody else wanted them.
Seriously, whom does he think is going to score?
