Steve O. on Friday urged me to be patient and give
Ainge a chance. Well, I noticed over the weekend that
Brevin Knight and his 6 apg signed with the Clips for
a paltry $2 million a year for 2 years. I don't care
what kind of "locker room issues" this kid might have
had in the past - you're telling me Kevin Garnett
couldn't keep him in line? That kind of stuff matters
a lot less when you don't have a locker room full of
young kids.
The Mavs also signed Eddie Jones on the cheap. Say
what you will, but the guy put up nice two-way numbers
for Miami last year, has good size and is a vet. $1.83
million with a player option for a second year, and
the Mavs still have their entire mid-level exception.
Cuban didn't exactly have to break the bank. And I for
one would sleep a lot better with a guy like that
filling in for Tony Allen rather than Jackie D-League.
For those keeping score at home, our bench still
consists of House, Scalabrine, Powe, the three rookies
and a guy (Manuel) who might as well be a rookie.
