In three trades
(Telfair, Allen, Garnett) we have fallen from arguably the 1st (if you
include Brandon Roy and Jianlian) to the 30th ranked team in promising
youth.
--------------------------------
That's true, and if Danny kept the Celts as the "1st ranked team in
promising youth", by not doing the last 3 trades, Maybe Bob Ryan's
right. Maybe we'd have had an even better shot at a title down the line
than our BigThree team has now.
I can see a defensive core of
Al, Brandon Roy, Noah, to go with Perk, Gomes, Del, pushing Portland
for future titles. (along w/ Rajon & aging Paul).
They'd instantly be better defensively than what we have now (Paul/Ray
with their huge minutes at SG/SF, will be horrible at defending the
younger superstar swingmen of the league). And of course with the youth
movement, we'd have depth, "TWO-WAY" players, and a bigger time window.
Plus those players above are as toughminded, & classy on/off the court,
as Allen/Garnett.
If our allstars, happen to lose in the east playoffs the next two years,
to younger, harder working defensive teams(it's what just happened to
Detroit's 5 FORMER ALLSTARS), we may end up agreeing that losing out on
the careers of Al, BrandonRoy, Noah was as bad as trading away
Chauncey, JoeJohnson, Marion .
