Yo Egg,

Intelligent folks like you and Bob Ryan keep talking about how

"In three trades (Telfair, Allen, Garnett) we have fallen from arguably the
1st (if you include Brandon Roy and Jianlian) to the 30th ranked team in
promising youth."

I just don't get it. Promises don't win basketball games - talk to me in 5
years about what we missed. Meanwhile let's go after a few more banners.
Different story if Oden or Durant had come through, but they didn't.

In order to win in this league you need big time talent - the youth game is
a crapshoot. How much "promising youth" do you see on the last 2 champions?
Weren't you sick to death of watching a bunch of kids learning on the job?
The youth crapshoot only has to deliver a role player or 2 now, much more
likely than AJ morphing into KG or Gomes into Sir Charles.
