Nope. I know who he is, he's in the paper every now and again and some of
my English major/grad student friends know/knew him or took classes from
him back in the day.

the film with Paul Giamatti about him (something about a Falcon in the
name) was filmed in and around Gville. the biggest celebs i've seen in
person in Gville -- like anyone cares, but heck it's slow today --

River Phoenix -- both slumped drunkenly at the now-defunct club The
Covered Dish and lucid at another great old club The Hardback Cafe. Also
saw his band play 3-4 times in warehouses.

Joakim Noah -- he came into the copy center i worked at last year

Billy Donovan -- ran into him at a gas station

Malcolm Getz (was on some TV show) -- was at a funeral i attended and my
folks are friends with his folks.

There are a bunch of punk rock musicians some folks would consider famous
but that 99.95% of this list have never heard of I imagine :)

Mark,

An off-topic question: Do you ever see the writer Harry Crews around
Gainesville? I believe he's retired from his gig as a University of Florida
professor but still lives in town.

Cheers,
