The bench

I think the trade all the youth thread is not realistic.

In making trades, the veterans in the league generally come with a cost
higher than second round draft picks and street free agents. Further, we
have traded away all our contracts except for Scal, Perkins, and Rondo that
would be even somewhat useful in trades. We have also traded two future
first rounders (one Minny's) which takes away two more salary slots for
first round picks.

Outside of the exceptions and minimum deals, I dont see how we can sign any
other veterans or trade for them. This might change somewhat a year or two
from now when, for example (hopefully) Big Baby might have averaged 7 points
and 7.5 boards and has some value but even then his contract would make it
hard to get someone better or equal back.

This where Ryan is largely correct - this is the team we have and due to the
massive skewing of salary into three guys its going to be quite hard to fill
in the blanks with anything more than late first and second round draft
picks, exception types, and street free agents.

Someone mentioned that whats the big deal of signing Manuel as Tony Allen d
insurance and then to be the 15th man when he gets back. Well, when you
rank the Celts as being:

Garnett
Perkins
Pierce
Allen
Rondo
PF/C FA (Dikembe)
House
Scalabrine

Thats only 8 guys.

9 through 13 looks like

Powe
Manuel
Wallace
Big Baby
Pruitt

Tony Allen goes at the bottom cause he is hurt.

Out of that 9 to 13 the only guy who has even a little NBA experience is
Powe. Even if we add one more FA, that still leaves us mighty green.
