I completely agree with this, Kestas.

On the assistant coach thing ... Dwane Casey had a reputation as a good
defensive coach, and had a good relationship with KG. I know Doc was
considering him before. Maybe that happens now.

Calm down, Josh. Thinking about it a little more, maybe Bob Ryan is also

trying to send a signal to the ownership that signing House and
Manuel isn't quite enough with his deliberately negative assessment.
There is only way to go - all-out in the next 3 years to win it all.
That means getting the best support players money can buy. Grousbeck et
al. should follow the lessons of the Pats and Red Sox.

The other thing the Celtics should do, one that won't have lux tax
implications but would bear major fruit, is bring in a top-notch
defensive asst. coach. Let Doc be what he can be - a modern-day KC
Jones, and get him some help where he's weak. The head coach's job is
mostly to manage the personalities anyway, which is something he can do.

In the end, it will hinge on 1) health and 2) how quickly they can jell
into a good (at least) defensive team. If Obie's Celtics could compete
in the EC with good D and a limited offense, this edition will do better

if the two things above work out.
