The bench

I think this (below) is very well said ... I also
agree with Ravi when he says, "Since the Celtics are
already in luxury tax territory, might as well go for
it all." But my fear, based on the recent signings of
Wallace and Manuel, is that ownership isn't going to
go for it this year - that they're at least going to
wait until the season starts to see how much mileage
they can get out of our three stars. I was lying awake
last night thinking about our bench, at least until
Tony comes back, and it's a joke as presently
constituted.

If Ainge/Wyc toss a pile of money at the best
free-agent big man remaining - however much of the
mid-level exception is necessary to get the job done -
and if they bring in one other decent vet, perhaps by
re-signing Gomes if Minny does in fact cut him, I'll
sleep a lot better. But good lord, can you imagine
what happens if House, Manuel, Wallace, Powe and
Scalabrine are all on the court at the same time? The
all-stars gotta rest sometime.

I frankly think there should be no room at the inn for
guys like Pruitt, Wallace, and Jackie Manuel. Would
prefer to trade the lot of them for veterans.
