I don't think anyone is saying the Celtics are favorites to win, or are better than the Spurs, but it's not ridiculous to say they can compete with them -- especially assuming another veteran or two will be added to the bench.
And the way I see it, your rankings are a bit off:
Garnett = Duncan, or darn close. The Spurs would have won every one of those championships if those two swapped places.
Pierce > Ginobili, if only by a little
R Allen = T. Parker, though they are completely different players
Everybody> Horry, even Eddie House. Horry has nothing left but an occasional cheap shot. 37 years old, shoots 35 percent (and that's his big skill).
Rondo >>>> Finley. Finley shoots better but I can't think of anything else he still does better than Rondo, even last year's rookie version of Rondo.
Perk > Oberto. 32-year-old exploded on the scene with 4.4 pts, 4.7 reb, 0.3 blk per game?
Doc <<<< Popovich. Don't minimize this.
T. Allen > Barry. You forgot Tony. He should probably be the one matched up with Bowen, since Manuel is prob. the 14th man. Healthy, I'd take Tony, since Bowen is 36, one of six Spurs on their younger roster older than decrepit Kevin Garnett.
Scal < Matt Bonner. If you're going to slant everything San Antonio's way, don't forget Scal.
