OK, he's a better-than-average three-point shooter.
But his career FG percentage is under 41%, he's
averaged well under 2 apg, AND he's a freakin' midget.
This guy's really gonna be our backup PG?? How is he a
better choice than Brevin Knight, or even Troy Hudson?
You can't tell me Hudson wouldn't have signed for $1.2
million.

Meanwhile, the C's also have reportedly signed some
guy named Jackie Manuel, a 6'5 guard out of North
Carolina. Here's some bio:

"Manuel was a tri-captain on the 2005 NCAA Champion
North Carolina Tar Heels, and proved himself to be a
hustling defensive player with unselfish passing
abilities."

I watch a fair amount of college ball and can't say
I've ever heard of this kid. Apparently he was on the
ACC All-Defensive Team his junior and senior years,
which is nice. He played in the D-League last year but
didn't crack the top 50 in points or assists, although
he did average a steal a game. Whoo.

DraftExpress calls him a poor man's Tony Allen, which
might be OK as long as we're waiting for the real Tony
Allen to come back. It's a heckuva step up from the
D-League to the NBA, though. (Just found his college
stats and they are very modest: 6 pts, 3 rebs, 2 ast,
1 steal as a senior, while shooting 56% from the
floor. Does not appear to be a three-point shooter at
all. Did he play in the frontcourt at UNC?)

Looks like Ainge is trying to piece together our needs
one specialist at a time. If I were Gabe Pruitt, I'd
be packing my bags.
