allegation I suppose in an obtuse way you could say I was saying the american 
"sports" were somehow
superior (which I wasn't) versus the opportunity to reach class levels 
heretofore unknown through contracts
of hundreds of millions of dollars.

Exceptions to every rule. Interesting that the opportunity to win those 
marathons would be where exactly if 
the American Dream didn't exist and was in fact a myth? In this case we'll 
label it the "Spartan Dream"

Also, I think you are referring to Maslow (rather than Lazlo's) hierarchy of 
needs.  He basically 


argued that we take care of our own basic needs above all.  I tend to agree 
with those that 


have challenged his thinking as simplistic and not globally applicable.
