I can understand on the one hand Boston's wanting to
flee from the stench of Telfair as quickly as
possible. And I know the kid must have next to no
trade value. But next to none isn't the same as none;
I can't help but think somebody out there would have
accepted Bassy as part of a trade package. I just
wonder if we can afford to slough off assets to win PR
points (or save a few bucks).
Man, has Ainge made a worse trade than this? I mean,
really. Wyc oughta be thinking about prying HIS name
off the locker toom door.
Glad to read about Tony's acquittal, though. Hopefully
now he can concentrate on coming back healthy next
year.
(One final note on David Halberstam: I met him briefly
at a conference about 13 years ago, and my wife and I
were deeply impressed. It was pretty surreal to be
here in the newsroom yesterday as my co-workers
scrambled to cover the story of his death 15 minutes
up the road.)
