"How'd it go in there?"

While I certainly don't mourn the loss of Bassy and his place on the roster, I always feel a tinge of sadness or something when I see one of these youthful phenoms going down in flames. This kid is 21 and everything he aimed for has collapsed around him because the circumstances in which he grew up won out over his talent and potential.

Yeah, he'll probably make a living for a few years kicking around NBA rosters, Europe, D-league, but this was a kid who was going to be a STAR. Soon he'll be 35 and broke. Then what?

"I wanted to let you know that we have removed Sebastian's nameplate from
his locker in Waltham. The facts and circumstances of his case have not
been determined but he does not have a Celtics locker and we do not
anticipate that he will," Celtics managing partner Wyc Grousbeck wrote in
an e-mail to the Boston Globe on Tuesday.

Thanks for the memories, Bassy. Don't let the door hit you where the good
Lord split you.

P.S. Now if we can just figure out how to get unregistered handguns into a
few more cars - Danny's? Doc's? Lucky's? The cheerleaders'? (I can't
believe I'm not including Scalabrine, but I don't think he even makes the
top... er... bottom 10 list of Celtic problems for '06-'07.)
