Here's the quote that killed me:

"I'm not caught up on a timetable," said Ainge. "Doc will be our coach
next year. There's no rush and no urgency in getting an extension
whatsoever. I would like to get something done before the season starts.
I would like to have that discussion [about signing an extension before
next season]. I'm not one who thinks that's a big deal [going into a
season in the last year of your contract]. Doc has the choice to sign a
contract extension. We have the choice to offer a contract extension. It
will be a negotiation."

We're not even debating next season. We're talking about an extension. I
hate this. I haven't given up hope that the owners will do what's right,
but I'm not holding my breath.

Mark

Only a Celts fan would look at a GM giving his head coach a vote of
confidence, and NOT suspect that the coach was about to be dragged into
an
alley and shot. In EVERY OTHER PLACE, and in EVERY OTHER SPORT, we
would
assume the coach was already fired, and just didn't know it yet.
