Bull Market? Not this year

I am actually SHOCKED the Bulls didn't land either Gasol or Garnett this
year. They had every chip imaginable - talented youth, an (almost)
guaranteed lottery pick from the Knicks - I'd be oh so curious if it was the
Bulls or either Minnesota/Memphis that wouldn't budge on whatever impasse
held up those respective trades. Did the lesser teams want too much in
return or was the stronger team unwilling to move certain pieces
(untouchables) to make a deal work?

I mean wouldn't Deng, Thomas, a balancing contract and the Knicks pick
intrigue Memphis for Gasol? It increases their shot at Oden, gets them a
shut down wing player who can score, a high upside PF, and lower salaries.

For all the posturing of Minnesota and Memphis wanting to rid themselves of
their top players I just wonder why a deal didn't get done.

You're probably right. That's the smart thing for them to do. Actually,
the smart thing would have been to make the deal for Gasol. It's going
to be tougher in the offseason.
