If all the stars are aligned just right, they may well make the
playoffs. But with our (virtually nonexistent) defense, the declining
health of our few veterans, Doc's brilliant game coaching, high
likelihood of some sort injury issues affecting Delonte, Al, or Perk
(based on their history so far), it's far from "not even worth
debating". The odds of everything working out perfectly are less than
slim. Unless Oden (whom we have less than 1 in 5 chance of getting IF he
comes out and IF Ainge chooses to take him over Durant ) magically turns
this team into defensive stalwarts, I don't see this team necessarily
making it despite the other potential and certain handicaps.
I'll remind you that most people thought there was no way we wouldn't
make the playoffs THIS year, too. The modal predicted win total on
Snoopy's list for this season was 43 and the mean 43.5 , more than
enough to make the playoffs and likely at least 15 games above where
we'll end up this year. This tells me that most fans are wildly
optimistic about this team's abilities. Even such naysayers as Dr.
Chestnutt and Egg were overly optimistic, as it turns out.
