Your argument hinges on all else being equal. 
Unfortunately, All-Star voting doesn't work like that.
 Big Al will get to the All-Star game, with the
numbers he's currently putting up (and I believe they
will get even bigger, say 25 and 13, when he matures
fully in the next couple seasons), when the C's are a
good team.  It doesn't matter who's in front of him,
it's who's in front of the C's.
