good stuff; I wrote only in jest; I don't mind the inside dope and occasionally negative approach; and I don't mind being blithely optimistic; perhaps I see our talent through the eyes of the character of the old days and melding the two ain't easy; hope your weekend is good; we're off to see the g kids; just read an article about overuse of semi-colons; I agree. very nicest "good guys" on all the Celtics' lists. Are you trying to tell
me
that my negativism has worn thin? I assumed that had happened four
years ago.
Funny stuff - your optimism and my pessimism - all part of the warp and
woof of Celt message boards. Except no one wants to hear the woof,
unless of course it comes from a serial warp who occasionally makes a
woof statement.
Believe it or not, she said modestly, my posts have been much more
right than wrong. This is in part because our team has continually
found a way to play into my predictions, and the various columnists
have eventually authenticated my "outrageous" claims/opinions.
Just today, read Mark Murphy's Boston Herald column concerning
Ricky Davis. I think I received only three scathing, mean-spirited
emails when claiming he was a cancer to our team while most here
were celebrating he had become the perfect team player. Ditto with
my analysis of Payton, Banks, Allen, Reed, etc. Honestly, Gene, I feel
this list has put me in the same position as the Bush administration has
placed the Democrats... if I continuously complain it means I am
anti-American, or in this case, anti-Celtics.
Believe it or not, I AM and always will be just as much a Celt fan as you.
I just see things differently than you. Now nearing age 70, I go back to
the Cousy/Macauley/Sharman/Brannun/Donham days. My favorite player was
original 6th man, Frank Ramsey. Like you, I was originally optimistic
about the Pitino signing and again optimistic about the Ainge signing.
But it didn't take long for either regime to fall apart. Unlike you, I only
played girl's Bball in HS/college when we had three shooting forwards
on one side of the court, and three defenders on the other side of the
court. That, along with my self amusing "humor" has become a bit
outdated. Okay, so a lot outdated.
Although still pre-camp and early in the process, the current
consensus of the Las Vegas odds makers and nationally respected
NBA pundits (not including the 1001 self-established, optimistic
Celt blogs and the various Celt message boards) have the Celts
finishing 3rd in the Atlantic Conference, 11th in the Eastern Division,
and 23rd overall.
Who am I to argue with them?
