Jefferson - a new man?

I have no doubt they're still shopping for that impact player to add to
the mix. If it doesn't happen before the season (it probably won't),
then I think the trade deadline is likely. You can't force these things,
Egg. You do that and you end up with Iverson.

As for Al, you're right ... I'm sure the team talked to him about
conditioning. But they talk to everyone about that stuff. Al did it.
Check out this interview with Wally, which includes clips of Al. He
looks like a different guy. It's amazing -- almost like the
transformation from drunk Vin Baker to sober Vin Baker. (Great, now
you're going to suggest Al's a drunk ... )

Anyway, I still have serious concerns about this year's team -- lousy
frontcourt, not sold on Telfair, Doc is involved -- but I still think
Ainge is taking the right approach. It's not easy. He's trying to make
up for 15 years of mismanagement.

Subject: Jefferson - a new man?

< "It was no one's idea besides him {Jefferson}, except for
Walter (Norton) and B-Doo (Bryan Doo)," he said of the team's
two strength and conditioning coaches. "But Al really worked
on his body. He committed himself to some unbelievable work.>

And the BS continues. Are we to believe from this latest pre-
season puff piece that Wyc, Ainge, and Rivers NEVER suggested/
dictated to Jeff (or our Asst. coaches) that he work on his
conditioning? IMO, not IMHO, the present hype/re-hype/spin of
Jefferson, along with Telfair, is simply to appease the fans' dashed
hopes of us finally spending a few dollars on a decent veteran player,
or more pertinent, obtaining a second "star" to support Pierce.
Gosh, Boston fans sure do expect the world. What is their problem
with dancing girls, rock music, the $2 mill new deluxe Jumbotron,
$200 tickets, $7 beers, $6 hotdogs, and a dozen future all-stars
strutting their stuff on the floor year after year?

Our BT continues to "handle" Jeff as an insecure psychotherapist
would handle a weirdo patient. If Danny and Doc Brain had only
considered even a modicum of character/Bball IQ along with
"athletic upside," we might have drafted far fewer head cases.
And it may not have taken four seasons to begin to figure out
which ones are the keepers... if any.
