< Interesting selection of Perk, Gomes, West--the keepers among
the youngsters. I agree, essentially, but think that the difference

Gene - I think you've hit upon the crux of the matter. As I see it,
Danny has essentially drafted two types of players... the get-its
and the don't get-its.
I'm obviously partial to the "get-its"... the solid-citizen,
heads-on-straight types even if they are projected to have
limited upside. Think Shane Battier vs. Stevie Franchise/Marbury/
Curry/Bonzi Wells, etc.
You're correct in thinking that the real difference makers
(based solely upon their athleticism and potential) are probably
Jefferson, Green, perhaps Telfair, and I’ll add Tony Allen.
Unfortunately, I've heard enough about these guys to place
them in the "just don’t get-it" group. That umbrella term
includes bonkers, undisciplined, bad 'tude, or low Bball IQ.
Three cheers for Patrick Ryan. I agree with just about everything
he has said today. I especially appreciated his -

they're so full of potential" >
If other general managers around the league had as much
confidence in our young players (a/k/a trading chips) as Danny
professes to have, then a trade for a major player would have
happened long ago.
