I'm pretty tough on Al, but I thought he was treated unfairly this
summer. He hadn't played in months while rehabbing his ankle
(pre-surgery) and struggled in the first couple of games. But he played
well after that, getting much better as the week went along. He wasn't
given credit for that.

I absolutely believe there's a put-up or shut-up element to this season
for Al, but the guy is coming back from ankle surgery. It's not going to
happen instantly. Let's give him a chance.

And my point was this:

Jefferson played in the summer league on an ankle on which he had
surgery
not longer after the final game. How the hell do you or anyone else
know
how much that might have hindered him in Vegas? It's easy to sit back
and
call Al a wuss and say he should be tough enough to play through the
pain,
but it's not fair.

If you want to bash Al for his play in the NBA, be my guest. I never
suggested he was the Celtics' savior. But use something other than his
summer-league stats as your damning evidence.

Jeff
