"Danny Ainge told me [Friday] morning he has never
seen this kind of interest from free agents in coming
here," Wyc claims in a Globe interview.

I guess that's supposed to make up for the fact that
the team has no intention of actually SIGNING any of
them. But I wonder ... looking at ESPN's list of
available FAs, the only three worth much seem to be
Bonzi Wells (no thanks), Reggie Evans (would LOVE his
7-rebounds-in-20-mpg on this team, but he's reportedly
re-signing with Denver) and Keith Van Horn. KVH is
coming off the worst season of his career, so he'd
probably be ecstatic to snare a chunk of somebody's
MLE; he'd also clear the way for the Cs to trade Wally
if the right deal came along.

Then again, maybe Danny was thinking of Dijon
Thompson, in keeping with his secret dream to field a
starting five made up on guys named after condiments.
