That way you can get a running jump. Molly Ivins said not to despair because things could get worse and then where would you be. I haven't watched the game but the late surge only provides some short-term feel good vibes. This bunch does need some confidence, but it needs coherent direction more. The peril, to me, is that we hide from all this uncertainty with a lineup heavy on Pierce's ball control and Wally's presence, plus others who can't ignite the running game. Telfair and Rondo become occasional flashes, we play competitively and lose, never developing the wide range of talent we have. Boston, we have a problem.

But, since I can't coach, here are my thoughts on the 15. Most reluctantly, we need to keep Kandiman. Ratliff may not play that much, Perk gets into foul trouble too easily, and Jefferson can't be expected to play center all that much. So, we need the 7 footer. Now, Pittsnogle. Glad he's here if only because he's a no-brainer to let go. Then we need to lose 2 of Jackson, Ray, Powe, Scalabrine, Akin. If we can't send Scal plus a year's salary for a 2nd rounder, then I would drop Akinbala (too green and could come back later) and Ray. Ray could likely hook up with a team that needs a fifth guard/swing man, but West, Allen, Pierce, Green, Jackson are too many already.

Keep Jackson because he has more upside and we don't need a fourth point guard like Ray could be. Keep Jackson because he shoots as well and is 5 inches taller. Keep Jackson because he isn't going to play and he raises our average height. Keep Jackson because he should play the three ahead of Scal. Keep Jackson because Boston area coiffure shops need someone to model their products.

I sure liked the idea of giving Green a start alongside Pierce. Sounds like he tried too hard on defense to stay in the game. I assume he is pushing his floor game and eschewing his shot for the moment. He looks to have made good strides and I am no longer uneasy when he hops onto the court. Plus, I love it when he dunks and doesn't posture afterwards. Cheers, Gene
