Yeah, apparently that was the case from the papers. So much for the
wisdom I offer : ) although thanks for the compliments, Cecil. It was
fun.
Delonte was moving very very stiffly - stiff-legged and stiff bodied
shuffle that also involved never moving his back, although he did swing
his arms a bit. Looked like Walter Brennan barely hitching along
(although Walter was considerably faster in my memory) from the old
Western TV show - which one was that, Gunsmoke?.
So I'm still more inclined to think both were a factor, although no
question the feet could have been the major issue. He was wearing shower
sandals over socks rather than the sneakers you'd have expected, to back
the idea that he couldn't get shoes on. Having spent some time literally
mincing along myself (trust me, not my natural gait) one time when I
sprained both ankles at once, yes, I can envision the shuffle I assumed
came from not wanting to pull at his back by lifting his legs actually
coming from not wanting to lift and step down to put more direct force
on the feet. But he was doing that with both feet, not just the one that
supposedly had the toe and I still think a little more upper body
movement when he shuffled would have been more natural if the back was a
complete non-issue.
Could be wrong. Definitely a hurting puppy though. I was shocked by it,
given that he played the night before.
