Hi Kim,
Assuming your question was directed at me.
Privately, with family & friends I have expressed my opposition and
dismay at the perky ones patrolling the sidelines the last couple of
years. You've probably noticed I don't post messages that often.
However, I really couldn't pass up the opportunity to spew some venom
when presented with the chance to "caption" the photo.
Maybe it's because I have three daughters, and for the most part, I'm
old fashioned (old school as the kids would say). I just know it rubs me
the wrong way. I am no prude by any definition. When I am watching
sports, I want to watch sports. If titillation is the choice for
entertainment, men generally know where to go for that. So anyhow,
probably doesn't make sense to anyone else, but it's just how I feel.
(BTW feel the same about the Laker Girls and the Cowboy Cheerleaders,
but they're not MY teams)
Thanks for the chat, have a good weekend,
roger

Curiosity question - have you shown similar outrage over the ones
defining the word perky they've had on the sidelines waving their bared
midriffs in the faces of the courtside seats at every opportunity the
past few years, but just refused to call cheerleaders (even though
that's what they really were)? About the only differences I see are that
the old group wasn't chosen quite so much for their chest size (extra
weight/equilibrium shifters causing problems with some of those high
tosses in the air probably), they included some guys to help them with
the lifts (albeit the dorkiest looking ones they could find - clearly
only one group was chosen for
looks) and the Cs never publicized them quite as much away from the
games. In part because they probably expected this sort of outrage from
some of the fandom. And when they didn't get it, or it quickly
dissipated, that's likely part of why they felt it was OK to go ahead
with the real dance team and be more public about it. None of this "game
presentation" stuff amuses me much, as I've told them each year they
sent me a season ticket holder questionnaire about stuff like that.
Strangely they didn't send me one this summer, after announcing the
cheerleaders....
Kim
