The Celtics are about to make a trade today that will benefit them
financially and possibly on the court, as well.
According to league sources, the C's will send center Dwayne Jones to
Cleveland for former first-round pick Luke Jackson.
The Celtics will also receive cash considerations in the swap and
will get to take a look at Jackosn, the 6-foot-7 forward/guard, who is
coming off back problems. Jackson, the 10th overall pick of Cleveland in
the 2004 NBA Draft, out of Oregon, played in 36 games for the Cavs last
season.
The 6-foot-11 Jones, who was assigned to the Florida Flame of the
Developmental League last season, was unlikely to make the Celtics'
roster, with some around the club intimating last week he could have
been the first cut from camp. The presence of a revived Michael
Olowokandi seriously hurt Jones' chances of sticking.
