Throughout the final quarter, the Celtics fought to inch their way
back to the lead, the gap slowly closing as the crucial minutes ticked off.
With 3:15 to go, Ford committed his 6th foul and took the bench as
the C's closed the lead to two points! But Bargnani made a running
dunk to extend the Raptor lead again. With less than two and a half
minutes left, the teams were separated by three points.
Then, heaven help us, Brian Scalabrinie went to the free throw
line. He made both, and and the Raptor lead was one point at 97-96
with under two minutes left.
Rondo stole the ball, but was then called for an offensive foul,
losing a chance to give the Celtics their first lead since the third quarter.
A Raptor foul put the Celtics at the line, and Ray want 1-2 to tie
the game at 97 with one minute left!
Rondo made up for his earlier indiscretion with a reverse layup to
give the Good Guys a 99-97 lead with 47 seconds to go in the game!
Now it was up to the Celtics defense. Could the hold the Raptors off
the offensive end for 47 seconds?
A timeout was called as both teams decided on what they would
do. Toronto came out running and made the basket and a foul with 34
seconds to go!
With the made free throw, the Raptors led 100-99.
Time was running out, less than fifteen seconds left. Brian
Scalabrinie committed a foul, sending Toronto to the line for two
successful free throws.
The Raptors now led, 102-99 with only thirteen seconds to go. The
Celtics needed a three to tie the game and force overtime. All
Toronto had to do was play smart defense.
Rondo made the shot to tie it all up at 102 as time ended in regulation!!
OVERTIME would now begin!!
