The first part of the fourth quarter was a dismally slow affair as
the actual scoring of baskets went.
Brian Scalabrinie looked at midseason form, which for him, is as bad
as you think.
Allen Ray and Rondo showed some determination on the floor and Gerald
Green got loose for another Kermit the Frog special over the top of the hoop.
By this time, the Cav defense was letting Scalabrinie score
unopposed. That's a sure sign of a disorganized defense.
Green did some more damage to the basket and the ball, putting the
C's over 100 points--and over 20 ahead of the Cavs--with just over 4
minutes left.
By this time, the Celtics were playing as smoothly as the Cavs had started out.
I knew the win was official when Pittsnogle showed up. I really
wasn't sure he really existed. Then he took a bad three and realized
that Olowokandi had the inside track. and did anyone expect THAT to be said?
Rondo makes some interesting, if dangerous, passes., and shows
promise, relative to the first preseason game.
I was annoyed to see the Celtics breaking away from the smart offense
as the game wound down. Bad habit, best broken quickly.
The game was mercifully ended with a final score of 109-93, as the
Celtics beat the Cavaliers very nicely overall.
Cookies go to:
Bench guys, kept their heads and got the Celtics back into the game.
Olowokandi. who threw down a gauntlet tonight in competetion for a
job with the team.
Rondo and Ray, looking good first game out.
Doc Rivers--who seemed to be much more aware of the flow of the game,
and the changes off the bench were good ones overall.
Gerald "the Frog" Green and those really, really high jumps.
Crumbs left for:
Scalabrinie, obviously did not rise to the occasion.
Pittsnogle. You don't start your offensive effort with a bad three
when you're that tall.
the compost ball
incomplete--Pierce is coming off an honest to god vacation and elbow
surgery so we'll see what happens!!
1 and 0!! YAY!!!!
