Survivor: Celtics Island

That's pretty much how I see it, only with Green/Rondo splitting 10 mpg
and D. Jones only playing in the event of severe foul trouble.

It's too bad for Green and Rondo, who both probably are good enough to
find minutes. But someone has to sit for the good of the team. The last
thing I want is Doc running 11 or 12 guys out there regularly. I will
say I'd let Green and Allen battle it out for that spot in the rotation.
If Gerald earns the minutes over Tony, he gets them.

At some point, Danny is going to make another move like the one he made
for Wally -- one that brings in an impact guy and thins out some of the
glut. Either Green or Allen will be included. Either Telfair, West or
Rondo will be included. You make an impact move along those lines and
things sort themselves out.

The problem, of course, is the frontcourt. Al better be much, much
better or this team is spinning its wheels. We'll have a lot of those
games where the little guys get there numbers, it looks pretty for long
stretches, but at the end of the game we wonder why they lost.
Rebounding and interior defense. They aren't glamorous, but they win
games.

So, since nobody asked, here's how I'd handle the
team's glut of 18 players.

THE CORE ROTATION:
Telfair, West, Pierce, Szerbiak, Allen, Gomes,
Jefferson, Perkins, Ratliff

GIVE EM 10 MPG FOR DEVELOPMENT PURPOSES:
Green, Rondo, D. Jones

PLAY EM AT THE END OF BLOWOUTS:
Pittsnogle, Powe, Ray. (Better yet, ship these guys to
the D-League)

DUCK AND COVER IF YOU SEE 'EM ON THE FLOOR:
Scabs, Grant, Kandi

Assuming Pitsnoogle and Ray actually do get shipped to
the D-League, the Cs will still need to make one more
cut. Much as I'd like to nominate Scalabrine, I think
the more likely candidate is Olowokandi. Assuming
Grant is only moderately healthy, he can play the same
role of "veteran big man at the end of the bench," and
keeping him around lets the Cs retain his expiring
contract as a trading chip. If they trade Grant away
during the season, bring Pittsnuffle back from
purgatory; I still think it's possible he could
develop into a very poor man's Brad Miller.

Comments? Challenges? Snide remarks?
