>>Um, problem is that you can't go into the season
with 18 players, so this doesn't work.

Yeah, that was kinda my point. I was thinking you
alleviate this by sending two guys to the D-League and
cutting one. But I didn't realize sending somebody to
the minors doesn't open up a roster spot in the bigs.
What then is the incentive for an NBA team to send
somebody to the Developmental League, if it means
they're left with fewer than 15 guys on the main club?

Or is the D-League, in effect, going to be the new
disabled list? The place where you stash a player
because your active roster can only be 12 guys?

As for Grant, yeah, I understand what the team's been
saying, but if you're going to keep him around until
the trade deadline, he's got to take up one of those
15 roster spots, n'est-ce pas? Therefore, as Ravi
says, you're left with only three spots to accommodate
Powe/Scabs/Pitsniffer/Kandi/Jones/Ray.

Assuming they're stuck with Scalabrine and want to
keep Powe around (even for a D-League stint), I'd pick
Jones as the keeper out of those remaining four. He's
a young, live body, and his rebounding/shotblocking
abilities are nothing to sneeze at. Maybe he blossoms
under Theo's tutelage.
